Mission Statement The primary function of the Assessing Department is to ensure that all properties within the Town of Sanbornton are assessed fairly and in accordance with the New Hampshire laws governing taxation. Please remember that while assessments are based statistically on sale prices (market value), they are not intended to tell you what your property is worth for sale purposes; they are intended to proportionally allocate taxes amongst property owners. Duties - Appraise and assess all real estate Cyclical Inspections The Assessing Department conducts inspections of all properties in Sanbornton to ensure data accuracy compliant with NH laws and regulations. The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) oversees this process and will conduct random inspections of Town properties to ensure accurate data collection. Beginning in 2009, Sanbornton started visiting 20% of the town properties, approximately 550 parcels, per year. This includes checking measurements and performing interior inspections. The Selectmen ask that tax payers please allow the field inspectors to do their job. If you have any questions or concerns regarding inspections or any other aspect of the assessing function of the government, please contact the assessing office at (603) 729-8005. | ||||
